Description:

Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process within established standards and practices.

Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients.

Implements cardiac monitoring and intervention as needed.

Administers sedation and manages pain effectively.

Cares for and performs chest tube insertion and management.

Responsible for medication administration and pre/post cardiac catheterization care.

Handles TPN/PPN, KODA access, and central lines.

Manages COBRA and specialized IV drips and titration.

Provides IV therapy and performs waived testing for IVADD.

Administers transfusion therapy as needed.

Maintains accurate documentation of patient histories, conditions, treatments, and responses.

Treats patients and families with respect and dignity.

Maintains patient confidentiality and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs.

Functions as a patient advocate.

Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles to provide age-appropriate care.

Interacts professionally with patients and families to create individualized care plans.

Reviews and updates care plans daily.

Formulates teaching plans based on identified learning needs.

Evaluates the effectiveness of learning and includes families in the process.

Supervises healthcare staff involved in patient care and monitors their work.

Assists physicians with procedures as needed.

Responds to workload changes to maintain productivity and efficiency.

Participates in performance improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes.

Serves as a preceptor to orient new employees.

Engages in professional growth and development through various educational opportunities.

Maintains operation and proper functioning of patient care equipment.

Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and assists in cost containment.

Demonstrates flexibility and organizational skills under stressful situations.

Meets departmental specific competencies and performs housekeeping duties when necessary.

Assists with transportation of patients as needed.

Adheres to dress code and infection control policies.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Serves as a team leader and role model for other staff members.
