Job Details

Job Title: Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)/Cardiac Telemetry RN (Travel)

Location: Pikeville, KY 41501 — Eastern Kentucky / Appalachian region

Assignment Length: 8 weeks

Shift: 12-hour nights (Night Shift)

Hours per Week: 48 guaranteed

Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 – $1,890

Start Date: May 25, 2026

End Date: July 18, 2026

Employment Type: Travel RN / Travel Nursing Job

Required Qualifications
  • Active RN license (compact license accepted where applicable)
  • Associate’s degree in nursing required;
    Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS and EKG certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry experience (5 years preferred)
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Proficiency in English (read, write, speak)
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct, individualized nursing care to young adult, adult, and elderly patients in a cardiac stepdown and telemetry setting
  • Perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments and ongoing patient reassessments; interpret cardiac telemetry and rhythm strips
  • Demonstrate competency with cardiac monitoring systems and specialized cardiac equipment
  • Care for pre/post CABG patients and those undergoing interventional cardiac procedures; manage sheaths, Angioseal/Vasoseal, and ACT machine when applicable
  • Provide chest tube care/assistance, central line management, TPN/PPN administration, IV and infusion therapy, and sedation/pain management
  • Administer and titrate specialized cardiac medications and drips per protocols
  • Maintain accurate, timely nursing documentation and electronic medical records
  • Serve as a patient advocate, addressing psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs while protecting patient confidentiality
  • Develop and implement patient and family teaching plans focused on cardiac disease, post‑op care, and medication management
  • Supervise, precept, and mentor nursing staff; support orientation of new employees
  • Assist physicians with procedures, respond to changes in patient acuity, and participate in performance improvement initiatives
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines
