As a Surgical/Orthopedic Registered Nurse, you’ll provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and elderly patients recovering from surgical procedures while ensuring safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care.
Your responsibilities include:- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing reassessments.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
- Monitor patient conditions and promptly respond to changes in clinical status.
- Administer medications and IV therapies safely and accurately.
- Assist physicians during bedside procedures and treatments.
- Provide patient and family education to promote successful recovery and discharge.
- Pre-operative and post-operative surgical care
- Orthopedic and trauma recovery
- Bariatric and general surgery patients
- Neurosurgical and genitourinary surgical patients
- Pain management
- Chest tube management and care
- PEG, G-Tube, and J-Tube management
- Traction therapy
- Jackson-Pratt, Hemovac, Percutaneous, and Sump drain management
- Blood transfusion therapy
- Central line access and maintenance
- IV therapy and titratable IV medication drips
- Stroke patient assessment utilizing the NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Cardiac monitoring and EKG interpretation
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Supervise and support nursing assistants and ancillary staff.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for new team members when assigned.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- EKG Interpretation/Telemetry Competency
- CPR Certification
- Minimum 2 years of recent Surgical/Orthopedic Acute Care RN experience
- 5 years preferred
- Previous Travel Nursing experience required
- Compassionate and patient-focused
- Skilled in surgical and orthopedic nursing
- Comfortable working in high-acuity hospital environments
- Adaptable and able to thrive in fast-paced clinical settings
- Excellent communicators and collaborative team players
- Committed to delivering safe, evidence-based patient care
