Job Description:

Reviews documentation to ensure compliance with legal requirements and processes transactions to students’ and sponsors’ accounts. Calculates tuition and fees due, receives money, verifies amounts, and issues receipts. Assists supervisor by processing payments on student and sponsor accounts, writes receipts, processes refunds, and may verify or distribute financial aid awards to students. Prepares money for deposits and resolves problems or conflicts with customers.

Balances/reconciles cash received with amounts recorded. Compiles data for monthly reports and maintains files for audit purposes. Answers telephone and greet visitors providing assistance and information. May assist in training new cashiers. Assists with departmental filing, as required. Coordinates with bookstore to reconcile charges to student accounts and payable to bookstore. Performs other duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and record keeping practices.
  • Knowledge of standard office practices
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Ability to research files, verify information, and complete forms.
  • Ability to calculate fees
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Ability to compile data, prepare reports, and maintain files.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • The formal equivalent of a high school diploma; plus six months of experience in customer service, clerical work, or a related field.
  • Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, upon review of the Qualifications Review Committee.
Preferred Qualifications
  • National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC).

Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon the approval of the Qualifications Review Committee.
