The Art Teacher will be responsible for developing in each pupil an interest and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with State framework; to develop aesthetic understandings and appreciations; to discover and develop talents of pupils in the field of art.
Responsibilities- Develop artistic concepts and skills for students, integrating techniques of visual arts, studio arts, and crafts.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that promote problem solving, critical thinking, and classroom community.
- Use technology as an instructional tool to support fine arts learning.
- Apply “Understanding by Design” and backwards design model to curriculum development.
- Plan and present art displays and exhibitions that showcase student work to the school and community.
- Maintain a safe, orderly classroom environment and establish behavior standards.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and integrate learning across content areas.
- Provide regular feedback to students and keep them on task.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.
- Bachelor or higher degree in art, visual arts, or studio arts.
- At least two years of full-time classroom experience at the elementary level.
- Valid Arkansas teaching license with required endorsements.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a positive classroom attitude.
- Clear communication skills for engaging elementary students.
- Experience in creating collaborative classroom programs that promote critical thinking.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and integrate learning.
- Proficiency with technology tools in arts instruction.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Understanding of and experience using “Understanding by Design.”
- Commitment to educational reform and parent choice in a motivated team environment.
- Expertise in implementing a dynamic and rigorous approach to art and design education.
- Ability to promote student self‑expression while deepening knowledge of art, design, and art history.
- Experience with backwards design curriculum planning aligned with year‑end benchmarks.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
