Position Overview
North West Arkansas Community College (NWACC) is seeking qualified part‑time and/or substitute instructors to teach Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Agricultural Sciences, or other life science courses. Faculty may be expected to teach and manage a full course, including lectures and labs, with availability to teach mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends as needed.
Essential Duties- Prepare and deliver instruction to students.
- Employ a range of suitable strategies to foster student learning.
- Stimulate class discussions and encourage active learning.
- Maintain proper class‑related records.
- Contact students outside the classroom due to absences to relay information related to class work and assignments.
- Maintain current knowledge in the field.
- Promptly assess student coursework and apprise students of progress.
- Demonstrate an interest in using current and emerging technologies in the classroom and/or in online teaching.
- Support the academic area and college through other work normally expected of adjunct faculty members.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
USD
765 per credit hour.
Master of Science degree in a Biological Science or a similar field (by approval of the Dean of Science and Mathematics) and at least 18 graduate hours in the subject area to be taught.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience teaching Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, or other life science courses.
- Ph.D. or additional graduate hours in Biological Sciences.
- Experience with leadership at a community college or other educational institution.
- Demonstrated teaching ability.
- Instructional experience at a community college.
- Ability to use an online platform.
- Experience or interest in project‑based, service‑learning, or inquiry‑based learning.
- Knowledge of good laboratory procedures and governmental safety regulations regarding lab safety.
- Use of technology for instruction.
- Manipulate items with fingers, including keyboarding.
- Sitting, standing, and walking frequently.
- Hearing, repetitive motion, and talking constantly.
- Close visual acuity required for preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, and visual inspection at close distances.
