Position Overview

North West Arkansas Community College (NWACC) is seeking qualified applicants to serve as part‑time hourly Writing Center tutors. Tutors will primarily work in‑person at the Writing Center, with occasional virtual sessions via Microsoft Teams and engage with online writing submissions.

Essential Duties
  • Provide one‑on‑one tutoring to students in person and virtually.
  • Assist students with online writing submissions through the Writing Center platform.
  • Support students at all stages of writing, including brainstorming, outlining, drafting, revising, and polishing academic assignments and professional documents such as resumes, cover letters, and scholarship applications.
  • Foster a supportive and constructive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with Writing Center staff to maintain consistent tutoring practices.
  • Participate in periodic reviews of applications as tutoring needs arise.
Rate of Pay

Hourly: $21.41 for BA/BS; $23.91 for MA/MS.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in English.
  • One year of teaching or tutoring writing experience in a high school or college setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree (MA/MS) in English or a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in English.
  • Three years of teaching or tutoring writing experience in a high school or college setting, with preference for experience with community college students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to use an online platform, communicate clearly, and work with word processing software (particularly Microsoft 365).
Physical Demands
  • Manipulate items with fingers, including keyboarding; sit, stand, walk; listen/hear; perform repetitive motions; talk.
  • Have close visual acuity for computer work and reading.
