North West Arkansas Community College (NWACC) is looking for an Associate Dean for the School of Communication and Arts. The position is temporary, twelve‑month, with anticipated start July
52026.
- Assist the Dean in maintaining and enhancing academic quality, including initiatives to support licensure and accreditation.
- Co‑lead program development: scheduling, new program creation, program revisions, and curriculum updates at course and program level.
- Faculty recruitment, deployment, evaluation, and development; oversee adjunct hiring, orientation, evaluations, and classroom reviews.
- Coordinate the Spring Arts and Cultural Festival and other school events.
- Provide administrative support to the Dean: academic standards oversight, program review, accreditation, catalog updates, budgeting, and strategic goal management.
- Monitor student progress data, retention, graduation and guide academic support services.
- Offer guidance on grievances and student discipline processes.
- Represent the school in campus meetings, events, and other functions when the Dean is unavailable.
- Act as primary decision maker for the school in the Dean’s absence, including signature authority.
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a field represented in the School of Communication & Arts.
- At least 5 years of experience in higher education.
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience at a post‑secondary institution.
- Two years of community college experience.
- Doctorate from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated progressive administrative experience at a higher education institution.
- Ability to read, analyze, and understand complex documents.
- Effective response to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to give persuasive presentations to top management and public groups.
- Logical and scientific thinking applied to diverse problems.
- Supervisory competence in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Experience in interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraisal, reward, discipline, and problem resolution.
- Strategic and operational management skills for short‑term and long‑term planning.
- Frequent keyboarding, sitting, standing, walking.
- Constant hearing, repetitive motion, verbal communication.
- Requiring close visual acuity for data preparation, reading, and computer work.
- Professional office setting with moderate noise levels; occasional visits to other campus areas.
