Position SummaryThe First Grade Teacher is responsible for creating a positive, engaging, and student-centered learning environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of all students. The teacher will provide standards-based instruction aligned to Arkansas Academic Standards while fostering a safe and respectful classroom culture that encourages growth and achievement.
The teacher is expected to collaborate with colleagues through the Professional Learning Community (PLC) process and actively participate in the school’s Response to Intervention (RTI) framework to support student success.
Qualifications Education and Certification- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Arkansas teaching license with appropriate elementary certification
- Knowledge of Arkansas Academic Standards and elementary instructional practices
- Ability to create engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, parents, and support staff
- Proficient in the use of educational technology and student data systems
- Plan and deliver effective instruction aligned to Arkansas Academic Standards.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that address the diverse learning needs of students.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, interventions, and assessments to promote student achievement.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate academic records.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
- Establish and maintain a positive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Integrate technology into instruction when appropriate.
- Participate actively in the school’s Professional Learning Community (PLC) process.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams to analyze student data, develop instructional strategies, and improve student outcomes.
- Participate in the Response to Intervention (RTI) process, including implementation of interventions and progress monitoring.
- Maintain documentation related to interventions, student supports, and academic progress.
- Work collaboratively with interventionists, special education staff, counselors, and administrators to support student success.
- Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
- Attend faculty meetings, professional development activities, PLC meetings, and other required school functions.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all matters related to students and staff.
- Follow all district policies, Arkansas Department of Education regulations, and school procedures.
- Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, conduct, and communication.
- Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, playground, and other assigned areas.
- Participate in school activities and events as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or superintendent.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift classroom materials and supplies.
- Ability to supervise students in indoor and outdoor settings.
- Ability to effectively perform duties in a classroom environment.
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with district policy and the Arkansas Teacher Excellence and Support System (TESS).
