Teacher Assistant/ Paraprofessional
In-School Suspension (ISS) Paraprofessional
Manages the daily operations of the ISS classroom, enforcing rules and supervising students. Provides a structured environment, helps students complete academic assignments, and guides students through behavioral reflection.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent plus one of the following qualifications:
- Complete at least two (2) years of study at an accredited institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours) or complete and pass the PRAXIS
- Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment
- Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in, instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in, instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate
- Desire to assist students in a learning environment
- Emotional maturity and stability necessary for the specialized work involved
- General clerical skills
- Computer data entry experience preferred
