Arkansas State University-Beebe, a comprehensive two-year community & technical college and part of the Arkansas State University System, is seeking a Director of the Medical Laboratory Technician Program.

The Director will report directly to the Dean of Math and Science and have a voice in the MLT program decisions. The MLT Director is responsible for coordinating the delivery of instruction, for ensuring the quality of instruction, budget management, and for the overall leadership, organization, administration, supervision, and effectiveness of the program. The director is responsible for operating the MLT program in accordance with NAACLS Standards and maintaining program accreditation.

The Director will oversee continuous quality improvement activities, supervise program faculty and staff, maintain regular communication with students, faculty, clinical affiliates, administration, and program personnel, and ensure the quality and effectiveness of both didactic and clinical education experiences. The Director is a faculty member who will teach the equivalent of 15 credit hours per semester.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee all aspects of the MLT program; maintain compliance with all NAACLS accreditation standards; coordinate accreditation activities, reports, and self-studies; and ensure the overall effectiveness of the program.
  • Participate in the preparation, development, and management of the program budget, including identifying resources to meet program needs.
  • Oversee the MLT course schedule in collaboration with the Director of Allied Health to promote student engagement, persistence, and retention.
  • Periodically evaluate the course schedule, curriculum, student learning outcomes, program outcomes, and all aspects of the MLT program through a continuous quality improvement process. Use assessment data, graduate outcomes, employer feedback, advisory committee recommendations, certification examination performance, retention, placement, and graduation rates to improve program effectiveness and student success.
  • Direct, supervise, mentor, and evaluate program faculty, adjunct faculty, laboratory personnel, and other program staff as applicable to ensure effective delivery of instruction and program operations.
  • Maintain and seek new partnerships, programs, and grant funding for training opportunities. Develop contracts, memorandums of understanding (MOUs), and agreements between partners.
  • Aid in the development of short and long term MLT development plans, as well as gathering of information and preparation of studies, reports, and recommendations to achieve goals.
  • Maintain professional competence through continuing education, participation in professional organizations, conferences, workshops, and by maintaining required credentials and certification.
  • Deliver effective instruction by assuming primary responsibility for curriculum planning, development, implementation, evaluation, assessment, and revision in accordance with NAACLS Standards and College policies. Teach assigned courses using effective instructional methodologies; provide academic advising; develop and assess student learning outcomes; and participate in professional development and institutional service.
  • Coordinate, evaluate, and maintain all clinical education experiences; establish and maintain effective relationships with clinical affiliates; evaluate clinical sites and instructors; and ensure students receive appropriate supervision and educational experiences during clinical rotations.
  • Promote a positive, collaborative work environment by demonstrating professionalism, sound judgment, effective interpersonal skills, teamwork, and exceptional customer service.
  • Complete all required training and professional development sessions at ASUB and to keep ASCP - BOC or ASCPi- BOC generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
  • Participate in student recruitment, advising, community outreach, program promotion, marketing initiatives, and institutional service. Collaborate with the Dean and other College personnel to establish and achieve recruitment and retention goals.
