the college and career coach for pine bluff school district will identify students in junior and high school most in need of career planning in their assigned high school and encourage them to aspire to post-secondary education, workforce training and/or apprenticeships as the means to a career that will afford economic self-sufficiency. Provide early outreach to low-income students and adults with information about the importance of post-secondary education, as well as accurate information on how to prepare, apply, and pay for it.

Provide interest inventories and skills assessments to assist individuals in making informed career decisions. Facilitate the development of individual career plans and portfolios. Assist in enrolling in education or training programs. Provide information on careers, career pathways, and educational requirements.

• provide opportunities for job shadowing, mentoring, internships, visits to business and industry, and other career awareness activities.
• provide or connect low-income students and adults to support services that will ease the transition to post-secondary education.
• provide information on how to earn the general educational development (ged) credential.
• provide information on how to earn a workforce alliance for growth in the economy (wage) certificate.
• connect educationally disadvantaged students and adults to “bridge programs” that teach basic academic skills in the context of training for advancement to better jobs and postsecondary education.
• connect students to academic enrichment activities such as study groups, tutoring, and workshops on study skills.
• provide a continuum of career guidance to ease the transition from middle school to high school to post-secondary education or training and ultimately to the workplace.
• collect data and generate reports through lea insights (ade portal) detailing metrics associated with program success.
• other duties may be assigned, which relate to the mission and goals of the arkansas works college career coach program.

• must be highly motivated and able to work with minimal direct supervision.
• excellent computer skills with a strong background in word, power point, and excel.
• must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively orally, in writing and in public presentation settings.

• bachelor’s degree.
• background check is required.
• other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.

• experience in higher education or a public-school environment.
