Instructor, Counselor

• Provide developmental and intrusive advising
• Determine placement and register freshman students for courses
• Maintain files and track first-year students
• Consult with faculty and staff on behalf of individual students
• Make referrals for support services as needed
• Assist in planning and implementing new student orientation
• Provide classroom instruction and student-development workshops
• Perform classroom and related research deemed necessary for the area
• Serve as advisor to student organizations
• Serve on University committees
• Assist in departmental recruitment and retention programs
• Assist in developing and expanding innovative programs to improve student transition, achievement, and persistence in college

• Master's degree in guidance counseling, education, or related field
• Two or more years of experience in teaching or advising students preferred
• Knowledge and skills in Microsoft preferred
• Team-player orientation preferred
• Excellent written and oral communication skills preferred
• Interpersonal skills preferred
• Organizational skills preferred
