Job SummaryConstruction Support Specialist shall provide construction support for technical field oversight and performance to ensure work is being performed in compliance with OSHA regulations, all state and local codes, compliance with all accepted industry standards, client's policies and procedures, and the service agreement.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Participate in all EHS activities and reporting
- Assist in monitoring the safety, environmental, and quality management of the work
- Represent the Owner in the field and coordinate with the EPC contractor to ensure construction and commissioning work is performed in accordance with project documents, codes, and good industry practice
- Review engineering drawings
- Participate and lead meetings with the client project team and EPC
- Provide input to daily, weekly, and monthly reports
- Manage and resolve issues and non-conformances
- Support and drive issue resolution and lessons learned
- Act as the Owner's Quality Assurance and perform routine audits of the EPC QA/QC program
- Document findings in the field through field observation reports
- Participate and lead system turnover walkdowns and verification
- Assist Owner Project Controls in project quantity tracking and progress reporting
Skills and Abilities
)
- High School Diploma or the equivalent;
- Associate's Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Technology preferred;
- Requires more than ten (10) years of experience in the Electric Utility Transmission, Distribution, Substation or Nuclear facilities industry (or other similar plant industries);
- Requires ten (10) or more years of experience with equipment and/or systems installation and commissioning at industrial facilities;
- Must be knowledgeable and able to interpret and cite OSHA regulations and provide guidance to construction crews and upper management on the proper application of these regulations in the workplace.
- Work is primarily conducted at Project Construction Sites within Utility Company service area (may require occasional travel to other service areas). This may include electric substations, transmission and distribution lines.
- Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel.
- Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
- May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes.
- Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20) pounds;
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to communicate effectively;
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation;
- Sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;
- Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to perform routine office duties;
- Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off‑site locations.
