Cost Accounting, Manager

Location Pine Bluff, AR or Panama City, FL

Position Overview

The Senior Manager of Cost Accounting will oversee cost accounting operations across North America. This role is pivotal in strengthening cost accounting processes, supporting the company's ERP transition, managing fixed assets, and fostering team development. The ideal candidate will have a balance of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a desire to grow alongside the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Cost Accounting team, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment
  • Build strong relationships across finance, production, operations, supply chain and engineering to ensure alignment with company goals
  • Cost Accounting Operations and Supply Chain
  • Oversee and enhance cost accounting processes, including month‑end close activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Partner with operational leaders to analyze and improve manufacturing costs, inventory valuation, and profitability
  • Partner with Supply Chain leaders to ensure accurate supply chain costs are tracked, recorded and analyzed to enable the most efficient supply chain possible. Implement Total Delivered Cost (TDC) concepts to lower all costs in the supply chain
  • Document and standardize cost accounting practices for consistency and efficiency
  • Fixed Asset Management
  • Manage the accurate recording, depreciation, and reporting of fixed assets
  • Ensure compliance with capitalization policies and coordinate with operations on asset tracking and utilization
  • Work with FP&A to perform post‑mortem performance review on major capital projects
  • ERP Implementation and System Transition
  • Play a key role in the phased implementation of Infor Syte Line CSI, providing expertise to address challenges such as incomplete bills of materials and routings
  • Ensure that cost accounting processes are successfully integrated into the new system
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Lead company‑wide initiatives such as the physical inventory process, working with diverse teams to ensure accuracy and operational success
  • Act as a key partner to operational and supply chain teams to support decision‑making with actionable insights
  • Strategic Contributions
  • Develop forward‑looking cost strategies to support company growth and profitability
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement and innovation in cost accounting practices
  • Variance Analysis and Reporting
  • Investigate and report on variances between actual and standard costs, providing insights and recommendations to leadership
  • Create detailed operational cost reports to aid production and supply chain teams in decision‑making
  • Internal Controls and Compliance
  • Establish internal controls related to cost accounting and fixed asset processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and external regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following:
    • Accounting
    • Finance
    • Business Administration (with accounting/finance concentration)
  • CMA (Certified Management Accountant) preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive cost accounting experience, with leadership responsibilities; industrial manufacturing preferred
  • Proven ability to thrive under strong leadership and contribute to high‑performing teams
  • Experience in ERP transitions or systems implementation (Infor Syte Line preferred)
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal communication skills
