This position is based within Jefferson Regional Laboratory Department.
Job SummaryThe Medical Technologist accurately and promptly, performs a variety of chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. This role requires adherence to strict quality control procedures, a commitment to patient safety, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to deliver accurate and timely results.
Medical Technologist Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelors or equivalent in Laboratory Sciences, including completion of one-year training in an approved school of medical technology and eligible for registration with ASCP required.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS by the ASCP) preferred.
- This is a safety sensitive position. *
- Minimum Requirements:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle stressful situations calmly
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment, and medical terminology
- Preferred Requirements:
- One or more years' experience working as a Medical Technologist in a hospital laboratory setting that includes the performance of high complexity testing.
- Proficiency in using laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic medical records
