Position Summary

The Sr. Functional Analyst, SAP will support the US and Canada in our Global Product Development group by leading and delivering SAP system specific legislative and regulatory updates for our customers to ensure their SAP systems remain compliant with applicable laws and regulations globally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the team in translating tax and regulatory requirements for the US and Canada into system changes for clients’ ERP systems.
  • Organize and facilitate problem‑solving discussions with clients and internal teams to resolve complex updates relating to US and Canadian HR/Payroll.
  • Provide in‑depth functional/technical knowledge of SAP across multiple versions and modules to the development team.
  • Ensure total product compliance by analyzing each tax and legislative change and producing business analysis and functional specifications.
  • Lead the analysis, design and configuration of complex legislative requirements, test those updates and produce user stories for the Scrum team.
  • Develop design‑on complex and thorough test plans to ensure quality deliverables.
  • Identify potential points of contention for deliverables, create and implement strategies to mitigate shortfalls in timeline and budget.
  • Proactively identify risks and issues on development deliveries and lead the team to develop and maintain risk management plans.
  • Assist with complex troubleshooting of tax and regulatory client cases.
  • Provide expertise on how US, Canadian and Quebec legislation is configured and processed in SAP.
  • Provide expertise on how US, Canadian and Quebec payroll taxes are calculated and the processes in SAP.
  • Provide in‑depth knowledge of US Tax Reporter including interpreting state tax file specifications and configuring SAP to produce the file.
  • Provide in‑depth knowledge of Canada T4 and Quebec RL forms and their processes in SAP.
  • Design and develop business requirements, user stories and configuration requirements, and test plans.
  • Work closely with the development team to ensure adherence to the functional design.
  • Formulate test strategies, review test plans, and perform system tests with QA to ensure high‑quality deliverables.
  • Assist the Development and QA Management Team with planning activities related to product‑specific tax and regulatory updates.
  • Communicate release documentation, installation instructions and client manual configuration instructions to product specialists and clients.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Global Tax and Regulatory team and the Development & QA teams and the client base.
  • Communicate effectively across various teams, internal and external customers.
Location

Remote – United States or Canada.

Education

Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.

Experience

15+ years of US & Canada SAP HR/Payroll projects as primary duties, in‑depth functional/technical knowledge of SAP US, Canada, and Quebec HR/Payroll, expertise in payroll processes, US Tax Reporter, configuration of SAP modules, and a track record of success in full development and full QA lifecycle processes.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficient in developing business analysis and functional specification documentation from regulatory and tax data.
  • Ability to explain payroll processes and calculations independent of ERP systems.
  • Experience supporting global SAP operations.
  • Strong analytical and product management skills.
  • Successfully engage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Self‑starter with a committed work environment and stable internet service.
  • Strong professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good English, conversational and written.
  • Desired:
    Agile methodology experience, JIRA experience, ability to read/write/speak French, ABAP/debugging knowledge.

Compensation

Salary range: 110k – 140k depending on skills and experience.
