An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a talented Consumer Finance Associate with 3–4 years of post-qualification experience to join a highly regarded Financial Regulatory team at a leading U.S. law firm.
This role offers the chance to advise a sophisticated client base that includes banks, credit unions, Fin Tech companies, non-bank lenders, loan servicers, consumer reporting agencies, and technology providers on a broad range of complex federal and state consumer finance matters.
The RoleWorking alongside experienced practitioners, you will provide strategic regulatory advice on a variety of commercial and consumer finance issues, including:
- Advising clients on compliance with key federal and state consumer financial laws and regulations.
- Conducting financial regulatory and state licensing analyses.
- Interpreting regulatory requirements and providing practical compliance guidance.
- Drafting and negotiating lending documentation and commercial agreements.
- Supporting clients with ongoing regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Assisting with regulatory investigations and enforcement matters where required.
This position provides exposure to cutting-edge issues affecting the financial services industry while working within a collaborative, high-performing legal team.
About YouThe successful candidate will possess:
- 3–4 years of experience advising clients on consumer financial services regulations within a law firm.
- Experience counseling financial institutions, Fin Tech companies, lenders, or other regulated entities.
- Strong knowledge of consumer finance legislation, including the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and related regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with regulatory interpretation, licensing, commercial contracts, and lending documentation.
- Excellent analytical, drafting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while delivering exceptional client service.
Candidates must hold a JD from an ABA-accredited law school and must have previous experience working in a law firm. Admission to at least one U.S. state bar in good standing is required.
