Director (Victory's Service Dog Ranch)

Position Overview:

Lead and manage volunteer operations at Victory's Service Dog Ranch (VSDR).

• Develop and maintain volunteer position descriptions as needed.
• Plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of VSDR volunteer positions and opportunities.
• Assess the organization’s need for volunteers to support VSDR operations, determine roles, and establish them in consultation with other department heads.
• Supervise the Volunteer Relations Coordinator and collaborate to fulfill volunteer program expectations.
• Create a workplace consistent with VSDR mission, vision, guiding principles, and values.
• Identify staff development and training needs and provide solutions.
• Conduct annual staff performance reviews that encourage volunteer contributions, including goal setting, feedback, and performance planning.
• Lead development of an annual volunteer survey to identify growth opportunities.
• Develop strong partnerships with community-based organizations, offering consultative and resource support on volunteer management issues.
• Engage existing corporate volunteer groups and expand support from new corporate entities.
• Guide the team to provide a positive, mission‑focused experience for volunteers, including an annual appreciation event.
• Align with the Philanthropy Development team to secure volunteers for third‑party events as needed.
• Screen (interviews, background checks, etc.) and match volunteers to organizational needs.
• Create and maintain volunteer program materials (policies, procedures, applications, agreements, orientation handbooks).
• Manage volunteer database(s) for tracking volunteers, projects, and service hours, ensuring accurate statistics and reporting.
• Establish a streamlined group volunteer scheduling process.
• Create and execute annual budgets for volunteer costs across all programs.
• Lead volunteer management for all VSDR signature events.
• In consultation with the COO, recruit, interview, and select qualified volunteer staff as needed.
• Participate in regular Programs Team meetings to standardize, improve, and expand services.
