Job Summary
The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) with specialized experience in Orthopedics and Neurosurgery is responsible for delivering expert perioperative nursing care in a high-demand surgical environment. The role requires managing patient care throughout the surgical process, collaborating with surgical teams, and ensuring adherence to clinical standards. The RN must demonstrate exceptional clinical skills, maintain high performance, and fulfill on-call responsibilities including weekend and weekday shifts.
Responsibilities- Provide skilled nursing care during orthopedic and neurosurgical procedures in the operating room.
- Prepare patients, equipment, and the operating room for surgery.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other perioperative staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Monitor patient status and respond promptly to changes during surgery.
- Maintain sterile fields and adhere to infection control protocols.
- Participate in on‑call rotations including weekends and weeknight shifts as scheduled.
- Document patient care and surgical details accurately and timely.
- Comply with facility policies and performance expectations; maintain professional competency.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
- Operating Room nursing experience with Level 1 or 2 proficiency in Orthopedics and Neurosurgery.
- Strong clinical skills in perioperative nursing and patient monitoring.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced surgical environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Previous experience in a high-volume or teaching hospital operating room setting.
- Advanced certifications in perioperative nursing (e.g., CNOR).
- Experience with electronic medical records and surgical documentation systems.
- On-call responsibilities include 4x10 hour shifts every 4‑5th weekend and one weeknight per week.
- Performance expectations are strictly monitored; failure to meet standards may result in immediate contract termination.
- Work environment includes low, mid, and high performer expectations within the regional medical center.
- Work schedule consists of 10-hour shifts with weekend and weekday on-call rotations.
- Shift assignments include call duties every 4‑5th weekend and one weeknight per week on call.
