Summary of Job Duties
- Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and university regulations
- Reviews general ledger and subsidiary account reports for errors or inconsistencies; interprets data and points out trends or deviations from standards; decides proper handling of financial transactions; investigates and corrects problems
- Allocates funds for new and existing accounts when establishing and maintaining the general ledger on department operations
- Evaluates current and future data processing needs related to quality control and reporting procedures
- Review and approve all journal entries, monthly and quarterly reconciliations, and other statutory reports
- Manages and completes month-end and fiscal year-end closing procedures
- Prepares organizational Financial Statements to be submitted to the University of Arkansas Systems office
- Manages preparation of organizational Notes to Financial Statements to be submitted to the University of Arkansas Systems office
- Prepares organizational Closing Book Notes for Financial Statements to be submitted to the State of Arkansas Comprehensive Financial Report (CAFR) office
- Provides general ledger documentation to various internal and external auditors; implements new and revises existing General Ledger policies and procedures according to audit findings or recommendations
- Participates in and takes the initiative to increase the use of information technology to improve overall productivity and quality of output in the department
- Models and enforces compliance with the Division of Finance and Administration’s Code of Ethics
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, plus five years of professional accounting experience, including at least two years in a managerial or supervisory capacity
- At least two years of Grant Accounting experience
$55,000 - $60,000
