Huntington Convention Center Part-Time Security Guard

Job Summary

Legends Global, a leader in event and facilities management, has an immediate opening for a Part‑Time Security Officer at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland. The role involves promoting and ensuring security and safety for the convention center and the Global Center for Health Innovation. Pay: $16 per hour.

• Secure premises, personnel and guests by patrolling property.
• Maintain a safe and calm environment through crowd control, monitoring facility cameras, and challenging or removing uninvited persons.
• Navigate the facility to complete security checks and respond to emergencies.
• Communicate with guests in a courteous and helpful manner.
• Conduct routine property walks: patrol service corridors and employee break rooms.
• Patrol mechanical and electrical rooms to ensure doors are locked.
• Patrol event halls and pre‑function areas.
• Control flow of truck and vehicular traffic during loading dock move‑in and move‑out.
• Perform interior and exterior perimeter rounds.
• Restrict access to non‑event personnel or employees.
• Direct people and trucks to appropriate event locations.
• Lock and unlock facility doors during routine patrols and upon request.
• Screen vehicles at the loading dock before entry or exit.
• Respond to emergency situations, including CPR and/or AED use.
• Complete detailed reports and maintain daily activity logs via computer modules.
• Operate and monitor fire alarm and surveillance camera systems.
• Operate and control the facility command center and maintain radio communication.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum six months of security experience preferred.
• OPOTA certification beneficial but not required.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certification required; obtain and maintain through employment.
• Valid driver’s license or willingness to obtain license for required equipment operation.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; outstanding interpersonal and customer‑service skills; ability to maintain confidentiality; detail oriented and organized; capable of working independently and in a team; strong analytical, problem‑solving and judgment skills; ability to perform efficiently under emergency conditions; critical thinking and multitasking; prioritize tasks; provide clear instructions; demonstrated motorized vehicle operation; willingness to work flexible hours, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, or emergency call‑in services.

• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Surveillance (CCTV) skills preferred but not required.

The position requires indoor and outdoor work, exposure to weather, noise, dust, cleaning agents, and heavy crowds. Tasks include personal mobility, climbing stairs or ladders, working at heights, walking on slippery surfaces, standing or sitting for sustained periods, lifting or carrying items up to 75 pounds, and operating equipment that requires good vision, hearing, balance, and dexterity. Work hours vary and may include irregular, extended hours, weekends, evenings, nights, and holidays. Travel requirements are minimal and confined to the facility.
