General Labor, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
What You'll Do:
- Assist with assembly, installation, maintenance, removal, and inspection of underground facilities, conductors, fixtures, structures, and associated equipment on de-energized and grounded overhead and underground facilities under direct or immediate supervision.
- Demonstrate ability to perform ground person duties under supervision as skill level dictates.
- Assist with loading, unloading, handling, maintaining, installing and removing poles, towers, and structures. After completion of D-100 (or equivalent experience), demonstrate ability to operate company equipment (except digger/derricks and aerial lift vehicles), climb poles, ladders, and structures, and work on de-energized conductors and equipment. May work on conductors and equipment energized up to 260 volts under direct supervision.
- After completion of D-200 (or equivalent experience), operate digger/derrick and aerial devices under immediate supervision. May work on conductors and equipment energized up to 260 volts under supervision.
- Assemble and install line material and hardware under supervision. Use and store handlines, tie knots, and demonstrate basic working knowledge of ropes and rigging equipment. Splice primary and secondary overhead wires using proper tools, hardware, and equipment.
- After completion of D-200, operate cutouts, line switches, reclosers, and other sectionalizing devices, refuse line and transformer devices. May progress from direct to immediate to general supervision.
- After completion of D-300, test de-energized overhead lines and equipment, install and remove personal protective grounds. Inspect and maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a safe, clean, and orderly fashion. Identify, inspect, and maintain all classes of rubber gloves, insulating blankets, hoses, and covers. Perform housekeeping duties; report irregularities.
- Safely execute pole-top rescue and bucket-truck rescue processes as training is completed.
- Protect or control work area: set and remove barricades, flags, signs, and cones.
- Maintain accurate records and submit reports: read and record information from analog or digital kilowatt-hour meters; complete monthly apprentice cards.
- Perform similar or less skilled work as assigned.

High school diploma or GED. - Experience
:
No experience required. Line work experience or line school education preferred. - Licenses/Certifications
:
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Must obtain a CDL beginners permit within 60 days. - Other Requirements

- Salary
: $28.31 per hour.
Physical Demands:
Heavy work – exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10‑20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
