Position Summary

The MSO Accountant supports the financial operations of CCNC's integrated pediatric and adult medical groups operating under a Management Services Organization (MSO) model. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Finance & Human Resources, with a dotted-line working relationship to the MSO Accountant supporting the pediatric medical group, this position is responsible for accounts payable, cash management, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close activities across multiple healthcare entities.

Functions
  • Process and manage accounts payable activities, including invoice review, coding, approval tracking, and payment processing through  and other payment methods.
  • Prepare, print, distribute, and maintain documentation for weekly physical check runs and electronic payments.
  • Monitor daily banking activity, bank account balances, and cash transactions.
  • Initiate, record, and reconcile transfers between operating, payroll, and other bank accounts.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation for multiple entities and divisions.
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules as part of the monthly close process.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities and ensure financial data is complete and accurate.
  • Maintain fixed asset and equipment records, including tracking additions, disposals, and supporting documentation.
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies, outstanding items, and unreconciled transactions.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and supporting schedules for management, practice leadership, and governing boards.
  • Analyze financial activity and investigate significant variances or unusual transactions.
  • Support accounting and reporting functions for both pediatric and adult integrated medical groups.
  • Collaborate with practice managers, physician leaders, MSO team members and accounting staff to ensure timely and accurate financial information.
  • Assist with regulatory and tax filings, including sales tax, property tax, and other required reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and increase efficiency within the accounting function.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial operations experience.
  • Experience with accounts payable processing, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and standard accounting practices.
  • Experience with accounts payable processing, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Quick Books accounting software preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions
  • Routinely there may be some minor physical inconveniences or discomforts in the work setting, including sitting for moderate periods of time
  • Must be able to utilize office equipment, computer, keyboard, and phone with or without assistive devices
  • Repetitive wrist motion and occasional lifting/carrying of up to 25 pounds
