Description
This is an on-call position with no guarantee of hours worked. Event staff may be utilized when staffing levels fall below minimum or as business needs dictate.
Under the general direction of the Special Events Coordinator, performs semi-skilled work in the setting up and taking down of equipment and supplies for scheduled events.
An employee in this class is responsible for working independently, in a team, or leading a team engaged in setting up and taking down events. Work includes setting up tables, chairs, stages, securing street barricades, crowd management, etc. This employee is subject to inside and outdoor environmental conditions. Work is performed under the supervision of the Special Events Coordinator but may be assigned to other teams if needed.
Ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays and a flexible schedule is required.
- Set-up, break-down, clean, and store tables and chairs, stage and event equipment before and after scheduled events.
- Set-up for event precisely as directed verbally or by written diagram.
- Maintain storage of tables, chairs, and other event materials and equipment in a neat and orderly manner.
- Report any damaged or faulty equipment to supervisor.
- On-site event duties may include: securing street barricades, assisting with vendor load-in, trash clean up, crowd management, other duties as assigned.
- Performs other assignments and special projects as required.
- Must be able to report to work promptly and when scheduled
- Project a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Must possess a high level of customer service skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, staff, peers and management.
- Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints.
- Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and to perform duties with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to lift chairs, tables, and stage weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Must have the stamina and manual dexterity to work consistently for 3-4 hours with or without scheduled break time.
- Effective visual perception is needed for making observations including distinguishing colors, performing visual and physical inspections of event set-up, use of measurement devices.
- Work is performed at various dates, times and locations, based on business need.
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, climbing ladders and stairs, bending, kneeling, speaking, hearing and manual dexterity to arrange small details of event set-up.

High School Diploma
