The Discipleship & Connections Pastor will provide leadership, training, and develop discipleship pathways. This role ensures that new people are guided through learning and serving pathways that help them stay connected and become spiritually mature, engaged servants. They will design and manage curriculums, biblically based teaching systems, discipleship and leadership development programs, and connection processes to help first-time attenders grow into fully engaged disciples in the body of Christ.
This is a new high priority role within our church which will have the resources and support to succeed.
- Help people feel welcomed, planned for, and loved by following up and ensuring clear movement from first visit - connection - group - serving
- Manage small groups, cultivating a culture where people can serve, support, and grow together
- Coordinate newcomer experiences, classes, on-ramps, onboarding, and manage the membership process
- Sunday School is a primary connection point for community and growth at our church – this role is responsible for providing oversight, support, and curriculum development, ensuring sound biblical focus
- Preach and teach as required by the Senior Pastor
- Align all groups to the church’s discipleship philosophy and pathway
- Lead the way in helping people understand the need for baptism as a step of obedience and officiate in baptism services
- Lead prayer ministry such as altar calls and weekly intercession
- Identify, train, and equip potential leaders and move them into leadership pipelines
- Equip group leaders with training, resources, and coaching
- Partner with ministry leaders to move people into serving roles
- Oversee the “First Serve” process and volunteer onboarding
- Track volunteer engagement and identify gaps or pressure points
- Strong theological grounding, experience in discipleship, small groups, or assimilation systems
- Relational leadership skills and demonstrated experience in supervising a team
- Ability to design systems and processes while caring deeply about people
- Strong communicator and team collaborator
- Degree in Masters of Divinity | Must be ordained
