SummaryThis position operates as the key point of entry for Sandhills Community College’s (SCC) Hoke County Center for the More Than a Job NC’s (MTAJ NC) participants entering SCC. This position will support potential clients in successfully accessing the education and training services within the college. The MTAJ-NC Education Navigator case manages the MTAJ-NC program activities for Hoke County students attending Sandhills Community College.
Working with the MTAJ-NC Education Navigator, the Part-Time MTAJ-NC Education Navigator will work to implement best practices, develop targeted support, and intervention to the MTAJ-NC program. These will include education case management, MTAJ-NC component assessment, awarding funding resources, documentation monitoring, and recording student progress. This position also enters and maintains information into the NCWORKS Geo Sol data management system. The Education Navigator will serve as a liaison to the college to ensure effective communication in the interest of student progress and engagement for DSS MTAJ-NC clients entering the college and obtaining/keeping employment.
This position is funded by a federal grant.

- Recruit, schedule, and meet with prospective MTAJ-NC volunteer participants to determine program eligibility and encourage enrollment.
- Obtain and verify all required documentation and information necessary to enroll participants through the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
- Conduct program orientations for prospective participants and provide comprehensive information regarding program requirements, expectations, available services, and educational opportunities.
- Assist participants in scheduling required assessments, placement testing, and examinations necessary for enrollment into educational and workforce training programs.
- Provide comprehensive case management, academic advising, and career coaching to assist participants in developing individualized career pathway plans, academic plans, and employment goals while identifying and addressing barriers to education, training, and employment.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with college personnel to coordinate services with college departments, including, but not limited to, college degree programs and pathways, Admissions, Student Records, Financial Aid, and College and Career Readiness to promote participant success, retention, and completion.
- Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with community organizations, employers, social service agencies, NCWorks, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) partners, Regional Workforce Development Boards, and other community stakeholders to connect participants with supportive services and employment resources.
- Develop, coordinate, and participate in recruitment and outreach activities, including orientations, job fairs, workshops, community events, presentations, and individual appointments to increase program awareness and participant enrollment.
- Visit college classes and meetings to promote the MTAJ-NC program and educate students, faculty, and staff regarding available services and eligibility requirements.
- Create, maintain, and reconcile spreadsheets, documentation, and records supporting grant expenditures, participant services, and program activities.
- Monitor grant expenditures to assist in ensuring financial and performance targets are achieved in accordance with grant requirements.
