Position: Full-Time Instructor, Electromechanical Systems Technology - 12-Month

The Electromechanical Systems Technology Instructor is responsible for providing high-quality instruction and supporting the development and implementation of curriculum within a new Electromechanical Systems pathway under the Computer Engineering Technology (CET) program. This position supports the delivery of instruction that integrates mechanical systems, electrical systems, and automation. In addition, the instructor will support instruction within the Computer Engineering Technology – Hardware and Software Support pathway, particularly in areas related to computer hardware systems, and troubleshooting.

The instructor will teach courses in electromechanical systems, including machine processes, electrical systems, equipment maintenance and controls, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and integrated system troubleshooting. The instructor will also teach courses in computer hardware systems, including installation, repair, configuration, and troubleshooting. The position will support program development, laboratory setup, and industry engagement to ensure alignment with regional workforce needs.

Instruction & Student Learning
  • Teach assigned curriculum courses in electromechanical systems, including but not limited to:
  • Machine processes and mechanical systems
  • Electrical and electronic systems, equipment maintenance, and controls
  • Programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automation systems
  • Troubleshooting and integration of electromechanical system
  • Maintain instructional excellence through effective course organization, delivery, and assessment
  • Develop and update course materials to reflect current industry standards and practices
  • Utilize instructional technologies and hands‑on lab activities to support student learning
  • Maintain accurate and timely student records, including attendance, grades, and communication
Program Development & Support
  • Support the development and implementation of the Electromechanical Systems pathway within the Computer Engineering Technology program
  • Assist with curriculum development, revision, and alignment with workforce needs
  • Participate in planning and implementation of new courses and program offerings
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of laboratory environments, including equipment selection, setup, and safety compliance
  • Support student recruitment, retention, and completion initiatives
Industry & Workforce Engagement
  • Collaborate with local industry partners to ensure program alignment with workforce needs
  • Assist in developing work‑based learning opportunities, internships, and employer partnerships
  • Maintain current knowledge of emerging technologies in electromechanical systems, automation, and industrial maintenance
Institutional Responsibilities
  • Participate in departmental, divisional, and college meetings and activities
  • Support the College’s mission, strategic plan, and One College Model initiatives
  • Engage in ongoing professional development in both technical and instructional areas
Required education and experience
  • Master’s degree in Electromechanical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Systems, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial, manufacturing, or maintenance environments
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical systems, and basic automation processes
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively teach and engage a diverse student population
Preferred education and experience
  • Master’s degree in Electromechanical Technology, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or a closely related field
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), automation systems, and industrial troubleshooting
  • Teaching or training experience in a community college, technical school, or industry setting
  • Experience with laboratory development, equipment integration, and safety compliance
  • Industry‑recognized certifications related to electromechanical systems, electrical maintenance, automation, or manufacturing
