Role Description

A clinic device nurse, also known as a cardiac device nurse, is a highly skilled registered nurse specializing in managing patients with implantable cardiac devices. The role requires knowledge of cardiovascular care, advanced heart diseases, assessment and triage skills, and device management expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, manage remote device transmissions, monitor device recalls, perform basic device triage, and take vital signs.
  • Coordinate and maintain daily operations of the device clinic, ensuring smooth clinic flow and prompt patient response.
  • Document evaluation outcomes and device testing results accurately in Epic/Scottcare.
  • Troubleshoot device-related issues and recognize normal versus abnormal device functions.
  • Maintain knowledge of heart anatomy, physiology, electrophysiology, and rhythm interpretation.

Qualifications

  • Current RN license, BLS & ACLS certification.
  • 5-7 years RN experience; 2-4 years in PCCU/CCU/ICU/Cath Lab or recent 2-5 years in a Device Clinic setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in medical and cardiology terminology, EKG rhythm interpretation, and knowledge of pacemaker and defibrillator systems.
  • Experience with Scottcare/Epic systems is strongly desired.
