Nuclear Med Tech Job Summary
- Has training in Nuclear Medicine (NM) studies such as Nuclear Stress Test, Bone Scans, HIDA Scans, Lung scans, Thyroid Scans, Liver Scans, and Brain Scans
- Prepares facilities in accordance with procedural requirements; calibrates equipment as required by the institution.
- Calculate, measure and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used and disposed, using computer and following physician’s prescription.
- Preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals orally or by injection or inhalation.
- Starts patient IV's.
- Explaining the imaging procedure to patients, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort while placing them in the appropriate position for scanning.
- Accomplish computer processing and imaging enhancement.
- Provides images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation.
- Monitoring the departments daily, monthly, and quarterly QC under the guidelines of the NRC.

Nuclear Med Tech Qualifications
Education and Certification:
- Must be registered in Nuclear Medicine through NMTCB or ARRT.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
Experience:
Training and experience in conducting various NM studies, including Nuclear Stress Tests, Bone Scans, HIDA Scans, Lung Scans, Thyroid Scans, Liver Scans, and Brain Scans preferred but not required.

Skills:
- Strong technical skills in preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals and operating NM equipment.
- Excellent patient care skills, including the ability to explain procedures and ensure patient comfort.

- Exceptional customer service, communication, and teamwork skills.
