Position Summary:
The Supervisor has the primary responsibility for coordinating the daily activities of operations for the MRH Acute Occupational Therapy department. Responsible for supervising, evaluating, scheduling and coordinating work duties of the staff therapists, therapist’s assistants and rehabilitation technicians daily. This includes staff & student orientation, training, competency checks, scheduling, medical record review, productivity tracking, budgeting, planning continuing education programs for the staff, infection control, safety and meeting regulatory requirements.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to acting as liaison between assigned departments, patient care services, and other medical personnel. Assists leadership with performance improvement activities, patient throughput and attends service line meetings as needed.
- Operational Leadership:
Manages daily staffing, patient scheduling, and productivity metrics to meet department goals. - Staff Supervision:
Hires, trains, orients, mentors, and evaluates staff (OTs, COTAs, aides). - Clinical Excellence:
Provides direct patient care (approx. 75% of the time, often in specialized areas like med/surg, ICU/Step-down) and ensures evidence-based, age-appropriate treatment. - Compliance & Quality:
Ensures compliance with DNV and hospital policies; conducts chart audits and maintains quality improvement records. - Collaboration:
Acts as a liaison between therapy staff and nursing/physician leadership to improve patient throughput. - Process Improvement:
Identifies opportunities for improving clinical pathways, patient experience, and operational efficiency.
- Graduate of an American Occupational Therapy Association accredited program with either BS,MSor Doctorate degree.
- Valid licensure with the State of North Carolina Board in Occupational Therapy.
- Minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience.
- Current healthcare provider BLS Certification.
- Demonstrates interest in developing clinical, leadership, or administrative skills.
