Overview

This role will support the First Health ambulatory pharmacy network. We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and dynamic pharmacist to support our system's two retail locations. The pharmacist will have great communication, organization, and team-building skills with a thorough understanding of retail operations and clinical skills.

Responsibilities
  • Receives and interprets prescriptions while reviewing the patient's medication profile/history. Clarifies incomplete, inaccurate, or contraindicated prescriptions with the prescriber, nurse, or other health professional, as appropriate. Identifies and intervenes on problems related to the medication needs of the patient.
  • Prepares and dispenses all drugs, including refills, for patient use as ordered and as appropriate. Assesses drug therapy for appropriateness prior to medications being dispensed.
  • Utilizes and analyzes patient data to provide optimal drug therapy recommendations. Assesses the patient's medication therapy regimen and makes appropriate clinical interventions with the provider.
  • Directs workflow, supervises pharmacy personnel and ensures completion of all necessary tasks for optimal functioning of the pharmacy.
  • Completes required documentation such as notations in the medical record, controlled substances documentation, cash register reconciliation, competency, etc. as required.
  • Counsels patients and appropriate family members regarding pharmaceutical care issues as requested or required.
  • Completes assigned administrative tasks and projects in a timely manner.
  • Adheres to federal, state, local, and institutional policies, procedures, standards, and regulations.
  • Administers immunizations to patients when needed.
  • Identifies and participates in process improvement opportunities.
  • Precepts students, residents, and participates in training new pharmacy staff as required.
Qualifications

Required

  • Active pharmacist licensure with the NC Board of Pharmacy or obtainable before initiation of employment.

Preferred

  • Previous retail pharmacy experience
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical record and Rx30 pharmacy system
  • Certified immunizer
