Inpatient PRN Behavioral Health Physician Assistant in Pinehurst, NC

First Health of the Carolinas – a private, not‑for‑profit premier health care network serving the mid‑Carolinas – is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to provide inpatient behavioral health coverage one to two weekends per month at First Health Moore Regional Hospital.

Position Highlights:
  • Hospital-employed (W-2) PRN position.
  • Join a collaborative team providing care on a 30-bed adult inpatient behavioral health unit.
  • Average daily census in the mid‑20s, shared among providers.
  • Responsibilities include inpatient psychiatric rounding and behavioral health consultations in both the hospital and Emergency Department.
  • Strong physician and advanced practice provider support in a collegial practice environment.
  • Flexible weekend schedule, typically one to two weekends per month.
  • Competitive PRN compensation.
  • Located in the desirable Pinehurst/Southern Pines area, within an hour of Raleigh, Fayetteville, Greensboro, Lumberton, and Laurinburg, and approximately two hours from Charlotte.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
  • Current NCCPA certification required for PAs.
  • PMHNP certification required for Nurse Practitioners.
  • Minimum of two years of behavioral health experience strongly preferred.
  • Eligible for North Carolina licensure and DEA registration.
  • Current AHA ACLS certification required.
  • Excellent communication, patient care, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
