Recruiter at First Health of the CarolinasThe Philanthropy Advisor is a key frontline fundraiser responsible for building and managing a portfolio of major, principal, and planned giving donors and prospects to advance the philanthropic mission of The Foundation of First Health. This individual will lead relationship management efforts through cultivation, education, solicitation, and stewardship strategies, securing significant philanthropic investments to support the Foundation’s priorities.
The Philanthropy Advisor serves as a trusted partner and advisor to donors, helping align their passions with meaningful giving opportunities that create lasting impact in healthcare and community wellness.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a personal portfolio of approximately 100–125 major gift prospects and donors, with a focus on gifts of $25,000 and above.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects and donors through personalized engagement strategies, resulting in increased financial support.
- Partner closely with Foundation leadership and colleagues to align donor interests with institutional priorities and funding opportunities.
- Create and execute strategic moves management plans for each portfolio member to advance donor relationships and maximize giving potential.
- Solicit outright major gifts, principal gifts, and planned gifts, including bequests and other deferred giving vehicles.
- Collaborate with the planned giving team to integrate estate planning conversations where appropriate.
- Participate in the development and execution of cultivation events, donor recognition programs, and stewardship activities to deepen engagement.
- Prepare compelling proposals, reports, presentations, and correspondence to support donor engagement and solicitation efforts.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of donor interactions and activities within the Foundation’s database.
- Support the Foundation’s comprehensive campaign and other fundraising initiatives as needed.
Represent the Foundation and First Health at events, community gatherings, and donor meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or fundraising certification (CFRE) preferred.
- · Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in major gift fundraising, preferably in healthcare, higher education, or other nonprofit organizations.
- · Proven track record of soliciting and closing major and planned gifts.
- · Strong knowledge of philanthropic principles, planned giving vehicles, and best practice
- · Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong relationships with donors, volunteers, and colleagues.
- · Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to craft personalized donor communications.
- · Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team environment
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- · Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with fundraising databases (Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or similar).
- · Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of First Health of the Carolinas and the First Health Foundation.
- NC Drivers License with good driving history required.
