The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing in overseeing all nursing services within a long‑term care/skilled nursing facility
. This nursing management role focuses on clinical oversight, staff supervision, compliance with state and federal regulations, and continuous quality improvement.

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) also plays a major role in nursing administration, including RAI/MDS oversight, care planning, QAPI initiatives, staff education, and interdisciplinary collaboration
.

• Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and directing the nursing department in a long‑term care setting

• Serve as a frontline nursing management leader for RNs, LPNs, and CNAs

• Support recruitment, hiring, orientation, and retention of nursing staff

• Ensure all nursing personnel maintain current licenses, certifications, and competencies

• Oversee and coordinate the RAI/MDS process
  , including MDS assessments, CAAs, and care plans

• Monitor accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of clinical documentation

• Lead and participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings

• Support Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives

• Provide in‑service education, coaching, and ongoing staff development

• Ensure nursing operations comply with CMS, state regulations, and long‑term care standards

• Act as a clinical leader and administrator within the nursing management structure

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)

• Long‑term care or skilled nursing experience required

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing leadership, nursing management, or nursing administration experience preferred

• Strong working knowledge of long‑term care regulations and clinical best practices

• Proven leadership, organizational, and communication skills

• Ability to work flexible hours based on facility and nursing operations needs
