Director Of Quality And Clinical Excellence
The Director of Quality and Clinical Excellence provides strategic and operational leadership for enterprise quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, clinical education, and workforce development across the organization. This position is responsible for evaluating, developing, recommending, implementing, and monitoring clinical policies, procedures, standards, and educational programs that promote the delivery of safe, high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care. Serving as the organization's senior clinical resource for quality, education, and regulatory compliance, this leader partners closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, operational leaders, and clinical staff to standardize clinical practice, strengthen workforce competency, improve patient outcomes, ensure regulatory readiness, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and clinical excellence.
A day in the life of the Director of Quality and Clinical Excellence includes:
- Providing strategic leadership for the organization's quality improvement program, including the development, monitoring, and reporting of enterprise quality metrics and performance dashboards.
- Partnering with clinicians to improve quality, patient safety, patient experience, and operational efficiency.
- Leading performance improvement initiatives utilizing evidence-based quality improvement methodologies.
- Facilitating root cause analyses, corrective action planning, and sustain performance improvement following quality or safety events.
- Leading the development of and overseeing clinical team member training related to clinical workflows, policies, and evidence-based protocols.
- Serving as the senior clinical resource for operational leaders and providers regarding clinical practice standards and regulatory requirements.
- Fostering a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning while serving as a role model for the organization's Winning Team Mindset through leadership, teamwork, and a commitment to shared success.
- Recommending operational improvements that enhance patient care delivery, clinical efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Carrying out necessary policies and procedures to address provider and patient needs, education, goals, and standards of performance.
- Participating in strategic planning initiatives supporting organizational growth, value-based care, quality improvement, and workforce development.
- Providing executive direction for Clinical Education and Regulatory Compliance, encompassing clinical onboarding (including EMR training), the CCMA Academy, the LPN Scholarship Program, and the APP CME program.
- Providing enterprise-wide leadership and administration of the Learning Management System (LMS), managing all clinical tracks, core competencies, certifications (ACLS/BLS/PALS), CEUs, and clinical compliance tracking.
- Directing regulatory compliance, accreditation standards, the Corporate Compliance Plan, and the Medical Records Department through direct leadership of the Manager of Compliance and Accreditation.
- Coordinating ongoing education and in-service programs.
- Performing other related duties as required.
Required qualifications include:
- Licensed as Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina. BSN or enrollment in BSN program preferred. Master's Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of progressive clinical management and healthcare leadership experience, including oversight of nursing education, ambulatory care operations, and regulatory compliance.
