Overview
Hospital Maintenance Engineer requires a diversified skill set to perform a variety of tasks in order to maintain the hospital and to perform Preventative Maintenance ticket items that cannot be completed during normal working hours.
ResponsibilitiesUses an appropriate problem‑solving approach to plan the performance of service.
- Repairs HVAC, mechanical, or refrigeration systems either by replacing or renewing.
- Inspects and tests electrical circuitry or equipment as needed.
- Estimates quantities of materials needed for the job and prepares requisitions.
- Troubleshoots and repairs faulty electrical and mechanical components to ensure the proper operation of equipment throughout all parts of the hospital.
- Reads and comprehends blueprints, technical manuals, and other publications for proper maintenance and operation of equipment.
Provides services with consideration of the physical, psychosocial, cultural/spiritual, and age‑specific needs of those served.
- Prevents system failures by ensuring that proper preventive and corrective maintenance programs are established and functioning properly.
- Provides necessary direction to rectify adverse situations or conditions.
Uses equipment/supplies correctly.
- Uses monitoring/metering test equipment properly.
- Provides safety checks on equipment in an appropriate manner.
- Performs corrective and preventive maintenance on all HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other hospital equipment as needed.
Uses appropriate safety and infection control measures.
- Enforces policies and procedures of the Facility Services Department and First Health of the Carolinas.
- Uses appropriate personal protective equipment when necessary.
- Follows First Health of the Carolinas Safety Manual.
- Complies with First Health of the Carolinas Infection Control Plan.
- Attends all scheduled training/educational programs pertaining to the job position.
