Job Description

Pineville, LA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Controller responsible for all day-to-day accounting and financial operations within a growing manufacturing environment. This role will oversee job costing, billing, payables, payroll, inventory, daily cash reconciliation, and monthly close activities. The Controller will partner closely with ownership and operations teams, leveraging ERP systems to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and data‑driven decisions that improve profitability and cash flow.

Responsibilities
  • Own the general ledger and manage all daily accounting operations including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, bank reconciliations, credit cards, and fixed assets.
  • Perform daily cash reconciliation by comparing internal records, ERP cash receipts, and bank activity including ACH, wire transfers, checks, and card batches; investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, and management reporting.
  • Maintain and continuously improve job‑costing structures for manufacturing and fabrication operations, including tracking labor, material, outside processing, and overhead costs.
  • Analyze job profitability, machine utilization, and margins by customer, product, and process; develop reports and dashboards and provide variance analysis with recommendations.
  • Develop, document, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls suitable for a growing manufacturing operation.
  • Oversee customer billing, progress billings, collections, and aged receivables while driving effective cash collection practices.
  • Manage vendor payables, payment terms, and payment runs to optimize cash flow and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Coordinate and execute monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting activities including revenue, labor, consumables, maintenance, and capital expenditures.
  • Monitor actual results versus budget and prepare detailed variance analyses with commentary and recommendations.
  • Maintain inventory accounting for raw materials, work‑in‑progress, finished goods, and consumables, including coordination of cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax and regulatory requirements and coordinate with external CPA firms regarding income tax, sales/use tax, and property tax filings.
  • Prepare financial information and supporting documentation for external accountants, lenders, and auditors as needed.
  • Evaluate and improve accounting, reporting, and ERP integrations to reduce manual work and improve operational accuracy.
  • Provide financial analysis to support equipment purchases, automation initiatives, and capital investment decisions.
  • Build, train, and lead a small accounting and administrative team as company growth continues.
Requirements / Skills
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and day‑to‑day financial operations.
  • Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and monthly close processes.
  • Knowledge of job costing within a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Experience analyzing profitability, margins, utilization, and operational financial performance.
  • Ability to prepare accurate financial statements, cash flow reporting, and variance analyses.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and inventory accounting practices.
  • Knowledge of internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial compliance requirements.
  • Experience coordinating with external accountants, auditors, lenders, and tax professionals.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, accounting software, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with ownership, leadership, and operations teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to build, train, and support a growing team.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
  • May require occasional walking through manufacturing or production environments.
