Job Overview

Position:
Nursing Unit Aide / Nursing Assistant 1-2 (Night Shift) in the Nursing Department at Central Louisiana State Hospital located in Pineville, Louisiana. The role assists in creating and maintaining a therapeutic environment for mentally ill and/or substance abuse patients, performing routine nursing duties such as taking vital signs, weighing patients, and tending to patient needs.

• Maintain accountability of patients and awareness of patients’ whereabouts at all times, reporting and documenting appropriately during the 12‑hour shift.
• Assist in management of aggressive behavior and utilize therapeutic intervention techniques; apply safety interventions and physical restraints as necessary.
• Observe, provide care, and document patients’ special precautions in accordance with hospital policy.
• Interact with patients therapeutically and report patient condition to professional staff.
• Conduct and facilitate groups in therapeutic activities such as unit meetings and work or activity therapies; supervise patients engaged in planned daily activities.
• Communicate pertinent information regarding patients, employees, visitors, unit personnel, etc. to supervisors or other authorized persons.
• Participate in shift change reports and attend patient staffing conferences and treatment team meetings.
• Perform routine nursing duties such as taking vital signs, weighing patients, collecting and labeling urine and lab specimens or drug screens.
• Document behavioral observations, vital signs, symptoms, accidents, injuries, etc. on patients’ charts.
• Assist or perform all other paraprofessional nursing duties for the provision of patient care.

• No experience or training required. However, if the facility receives certain Medicaid or Medicare funds, applicants must possess a current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate.

Special Entrance Rate (SER) – bi‑weekly:

• Nursing Unit Aide – $972.00
• Nursing Assistant 1 – $1,099.20
• Nursing Assistant 2 – $1,176.00

Eligible for premium pay of $1.50 per hour, longevity pay starting at $1.00 per hour, and an additional $1.00 per hour for having a current CNA certification.

Rotating 12‑hour night shift.

This position may be filled as a Nursing Unit Aide, Nursing Assistant 1, or Nursing Assistant 2.
