DIS-TRAN Steel, located in Pineville, LA, is looking for a Fitter I to join the team.

• Interpret blueprints to tack fit structures including tubular steel transmission poles, latticed transmission towers, substation deadend and support structures and other specialty structures.
• Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
• Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials, requirements, and task sequences.
• Plan steel layout according to specifications.
• Lay out full scale drawings of structures, supports, and related equipment, following blueprints within specified tolerances.
• Move parts safely into position; manually or with hoists or cranes.
• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
• Measure and mark steel for manipulation.
• Assemble fittings according to specifications by welding.
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
• Position, align, and weld parts to form complete structures, following blueprints and layout specifications, using machinery, welding torches, and hand tools.
• Verify conformance of steel to specifications by measuring tapes or other measuring devices.
• Examine steel or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.
• Cut material using torches and other cutting equipment common to the welding trade.

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to interpret blueprints required.
• Ability to read a tape measure required.
• Welding / fitting certification or prior fitting experience preferred.
• Certifications or prior experience using moving machinery, such as cranes, preferred.
• Must pass on-site tack test.
• Regular, reliable attendance is required.
