Sapphire Technical Solutions, located in Pineville, NC designs, manufactures, and tests equipment for the lighting metrology industry. Sapphire is also an ISO-17025 accredited photometric, radiometric, and power efficiency testing laboratory, in addition to being an equipment manufacturer. Sapphire supports the aerospace, automotive, maritime, and commercial lighting industries, as well as governmental and regulatory agencies.
ScopeThe Calibration & Test Technician position provides support for all aspects of Sapphire’s laboratory functions. The candidate will receive training on photometric metrology equipment produced by Sapphire, as well as other manufacturers, in addition to regulatory requirements for the automotive, aerospace, and general lighting industries. The Calibration & Test Technician is responsible for calibrating customer metrology equipment, testing customer finished products in accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines, as well as assisting in the assembly, calibration, repair, and installation of equipment manufactured by Sapphire at customer locations.
Duties & Responsibilities- Perform inhouse calibrations on customer metrology equipment to manufacturer specifications.
- Perform non-destructive and destructive photometric and environmental testing on customer finished products to ensure they meet requirements set by applicable regulatory bodies.
- Perform onsite calibrations and repair of test equipment manufactured by Sapphire
- Assembling test fixtures
- Interact with customers for remote tech support via telephone and/or email
- Assembly and installation of custom test equipment manufactured by Sapphire
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation for all work functions
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and ensure compliance with safety standards
- Associates Degree (Bachelors a plus) in a technical or life sciences field (Electronics, Computer Science, Physics, Biomedical Technology, Engineering, Biology or similar)
- Able to read schematics, troubleshoot problems, and perform failure mode analysis
- Basic soldering, wiring, and electronics assembly skills
- Proficient with multimeter
- Understanding of AC and DC power and distribution
- Understanding of power tools and general mechanical principles
- Proficient with MS Office
- Ability to lift 75lbs
- Must pass eye exam (can wear glasses or contacts)
