Material Handler

Job Objective:
To safely and efficiently handle, move, stage, and store raw materials and finished goods in support of production and shipping operations. The Material Handler ensures accurate inventory control, proper packaging and documentation, safe equipment operation, and clear communication with team members and drivers, while maintaining a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment.

- Safe operation of a forklift to effectively and efficiently stack, load, unload, or move raw materials and finished goods to required departments/locations.
- Staging appropriate materials for production in timely manner; staging finished goods for shipment.
- Operating equipment such as trash compactors and material grinders (if applicable).
- Ensuring that raw materials or finished products are banded, properly packaged, and labeled.
- Inspecting materials for defects or quality issues and report any issues to the supervisor.
- Complete necessary paperwork for shipping; communicate with drivers regarding start and finish of load/unload, and where to dock.
- Maintain accurate counts and proper storage of inventory.
- Always maintain a safe working environment and monitor all work processes for safe working conditions, reporting any issues that arise.
- Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Communicating effectively with supervisors and other team members.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including regular housekeeping duties (sweeping, wiping down surfaces, etc.).
- Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities:
Ability to read and understand work instructions, as well as to communicate effectively.
Ability to work scheduled work hours, along with occasional required overtime.
Ability to effectively self-manage time and service multiple areas.
Must be able to pass the Material Handler Certification Test
Supervisory Responsibility:
None.

Physical requirements include:
Bending, reaching, stretching, kneeling, and stooping.
Standing for up to 8 hours at a time.
Frequently lifting, pulling, and pushing of materials up to 40 lbs., and occasionally up to 60 lbs.

Working Conditions:
The work environment for this position is a warehouse environment with moderate to loud noise levels. The environment may be dusty and may experience temperature fluctuations based on weather which exposes the employee to outdoor conditions.
