Summary
Leader in Training (LIT) and Floor Leader primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement: “To create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” The LIT and Floor Leader performs a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g. cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Works directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new teammates, and provide leadership.
Key Responsibilities Sales Generation and Guest Service- Greet guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and consistently provide legendary service.
- Answer questions about the store and its merchandise.
- Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on guest needs and desires.
- Anticipate and fulfill guest needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobe experience.
- Demonstrate products using product knowledge and sales education, consistently sharing that knowledge with the team.
- Maintain and share knowledge of current sales and promotions, payment and exchange policies, and security practices.
- Remain consistent on personal sales and look for opportunities to impact teammates’ presentations with the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG).
- Achieve personal sales‑per‑hour, average sales and total net sales goals set by store management.
- Provide legendary service throughout the store in all key areas:
Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and the register area. - Know all exchange and return procedures for guests and turn them into a show‑making opportunity.
- Fill out and effectively use the SPG daily to accomplish goals.
- Meet or exceed performance standards in all Buckle business builders and guest loyalty initiatives including fit appointments, Buckle credit card, and guest connect.
- Investigate and navigate how to expand guest selection through inventory manager, advanced product search, iPad apps, etc.
- Maintain and build good guest relationships to develop a client‑based business.
- Lead by example with a high level of show‑making, excellent customer service and attentiveness.
- Recognize and communicate guest levels with the team.
- Ask business‑driven and show‑making questions often to manager, team leaders, and all teammates.
- Coachable – allow manager to educate them in their sales presentation.
- Consistently perform leadership actions and maintain high standards, whether or not manager is present.
- Recognize recruiting opportunities using Jobs & Careers cards, email referrals and teammate recommendations.
- Develop skills and assist in leading, directing, motivating and educating new teammates to meet daily Buckle accountability, shift orientation, loss prevention and sales presentation standards.
- Maintain a positive attitude to create a positive floor culture.
- Demonstrate personal dress code to encourage and coach teammates and team leaders on the latest fashion.
- Participate effectively in daily setup, training, impacting and reviewing, while effectively utilizing the Performance Tracker.
- Motivate teammates to initiate and complete daily tasks.
- Passionately demonstrate, coach and influence results of denim show‑making and denim fit cards through teammates and guests.
- Create and develop results in your department, balancing all DM actions and completing the mid‑week check‑in.
- Demonstrate leadership actions during segments by:
- Being aware of guests and ensuring they are helped.
- Getting guests involved with products.
- Being vocal and continuously updating fellow leaders and teammates.
- Getting guest names.
- Understanding and working the guys’ side/gals’ side to benefit both teammates and guests.
- Own and influence product through zone ownership: product knowledge, placement, passion, preference; weekly checklist; lifecycle of product; track results.
- Recognize and assign zones and projects to teammates daily with specific learning goals.
- Ensure teammates follow visual standards, visual library and weekly visual checklist with urgency and accountability.
