The School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) at Rutgers University is the largest academic unit of the University and is comprised of 41 academic departments spanning humanities, social, physical and life sciences and over 100 different majors, plus programs, centers, bureaus and institutes. Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking Study Hall Monitors for the Office for Diversity and Academic Success in the Sciences (ODASIS) - School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) in New Brunswick, NJ. The Study Hall Monitor supports the ODASIS program by maintaining a productive and supportive learning environment.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
* Opens and closes study hall rooms as assigned.
* Monitors study hall sessions to maintain a quiet, focused, and respectful environment.
* Manages student attendance, including accurate check-in and check-out.
* Enforces program rules and procedures to ensure fairness and safety.
* Responds to general content-related questions in math and science, guiding students toward understanding and problem-solving.
* Supports students in developing effective study habits, time management, and resource utilization.
* Communicates regularly with program staff regarding student progress, attendance, and concerns.
FLSA Nonexempt Salary Details $25/hr Offer Information
The final salary offer may be determined by several factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's qualifications, experience, and expertise, and availability of department or grant funds to support the position. Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Strong organizational, interpersonal, and academic skills to foster student success.
* Strong problem-solving skills.
* Reliability and professionalism in managing responsibilities and student interactions.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
* Coursework completed toward a degree in education, math, science, or a related field highly.
* Familiarity with the ODASIS program.
* Experience working with students in a tutoring, mentoring, or supervisory capacity.

* Part-time schedule aligned with study hall hours (may include evenings or weekends depending on program needs).
