Posting Summary
We are seeking applications for a full-time, 12-month non-tenure track Assistant Professor - Professional Practice Track appointment in the Department of Health Behavior, Society, and Policy (HBSP). Faculty in the Professional Practice title series serve as a bridge between academic scholarship and its real-world application, focusing on professional development and discipline-based education. We are seeking an experienced practitioner who will teach practical skills, mentor students and create opportunities for experiential learning such as internships and research projects.
In addition to teaching, the faculty member will actively contribute to their profession through applied research, consulting and professional outreach. This position will also include responsibilities related to course assessment, inclusive curriculum and other administrative duties that support the department's academic mission. This is a renewable, 1-year, appointment.
The incumbent faculty member shall:
* Teach a minimum of 3 courses per year
* Use recognized teaching methods to implement novel curriculum, teaching methodologies, or programs through in-person and online teaching modalities
* Utilize recognized best practice for science education, including active and experiential learning pedagogies
* Provide academic and practicum advising and mentorship to Master of Public Health degree students and DrPH students and serve on DrPH committees.
* Collaborate with faculty and leadership from the School of Public Health, and other relevant programs, to ensure assigned courses meet the needs of the relevant Department or Program
* Develop a system to demonstrate that the minimum educational requirements are met for each course
* Have the opportunity to collaborate on grant-writing and peer-reviewed publications
* Participate in departmental and School service
* Other required activities

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
Successful applicants will have:
* A doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, MD, JD, EdD)
* Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring with at least three years' professional experience in a classroom setting
* Experience teaching relevant undergraduate or graduate courses
* Evidence of a commitment to diversity
