Posting Summary
Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) Educational Opportunity (EOF) is seeking non-credit instructors to provide virtual and in-person instruction to students in the SEBS EOF Summer START-UP at Rutgers University. Dates include July 6th-July 10th (virtual instruction). July 13th-July 31st (in-person instruction). The candidate will teach Introductory to Expository Writing course, which is designed to introduce first year student writers to the elements of academic argument.
Students learn to recognize the fundamental structure of academic argumentative writing as they learn to read and summarize academic essays, and then they apply the fundamental structure in academic essays of their own. Students will study and practice the skills necessary to successfully transition to the Fall semester. The course is organized around two major writing assignments. The course guides students' practice through pre-writing, drafting, and revising, and includes discussions, workshops, and tutorials with the instructor.
Be available to students via email, phone and/or by virtual conference during the first week of the program. After the first orientation week all instruction will occur in person on the Livingston Campus, Piscataway, NJ.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline, a Master's degree is preferred.
A minimum of 2 years experience teaching English, preferable in a higher education setting.
Ability to instruct students in grammar, syntax and advanced writing skills while managing multiple skill levels.
Experience in curriculum development, and delivering course content using innovative practices.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and teaching skills.
Ability to work with a team to promote multidisciplinary instruction
Experience working with diverse student populations.
Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
All positions require superior communication skills, the ability to relate to students, other faculty, and college staff, and the ability to handle a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Must be knowledgeable of Zoom and Canvas platforms to conduct one week of virtual instruction during orientation period. The successful applicants will be a team player, have strong leadership skills, and possess a high-energy level and a positive attitude.
The ability to assist students with college-readiness skills is desired.
