Posting Summary
The Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT) within the School of Engineering at Rutgers University, is seeming a Postdoctoral Associate in Traffic Engineering, specializing in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). This is a pivotal role requiring a blend of technical expertise, project management, and collaboration skills. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the development, deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of ITS projects in the Data City Smart Mobility Testing Ground program.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
The ideal candidate has to have Ph.D. in a related field or discipline, or an equivalent
combination of education and/or relevant experience, and a minimum of five years of relevant
professional experience, excellent communication skills, and computer literacy
Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Experience with large-scale ITS projects and Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) testbeds
* Proven track record of involvement in large-scale ITS initiatives, demonstrating understanding of the design, implementation, and management of advanced transportation systems.
* Extensive knowledge of transportation and traffic engineering principles, including the ability to design, plan, and document complex ITS solutions.
* Familiarity with ITS and microscopic traffic simulation architectures, supporting the development of simulation platforms
* Hands-on experience with field instrumentation, as well as the installation and deployment of ITS devices, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
* Demonstrated success in preparing, drafting, and submitting grant proposals for ITS projects, with a proven ability to secure funding through compelling proposals.
* Background in the maintenance, optimization, and operational oversight of ITS systems, ensuring reliability and sustained performance.
* Forward-thinking mindset with the ability to stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in the ITS domain.
* Effective communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative approach are critical to engage with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) testbeds is highly desirable, demonstrating a keen grasp of cutting-edge technologies in the transportation domain.
* Experience in large-scale data processing and data transmission systems, including the ability to manage, analyze, and efficiently handle high-volume transportation datasets.
* Experience with traffic simulation tools and methodologies, with the ability to model, analyze, and interpret complex traffic scenarios.
* Proficiency in ITS software or mobile application development, showcasing the ability to create innovative solutions that enhance user experience, system functionality, or data analytics.
Equipment Utilized
* Experience with Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operation preferred to help collect traffic flow and infrastructure data under supervision
* Experience with Photogrammetry and Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM)-based scanning devices operation preferred to help collect infrastructure data
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Require in-person field work with data collection and testing instrumentation and computer-based research and development.
