Posting Summary

Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate in the Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine (CABM) of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS).

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Postdoctoral Associate will perform investigations on regulation of utilization of dietary fiber and host glycans by Hybrid Two-Component System (HTCS) transcription factors in Bacteroides. The research project will focus on structural characterization of

B. thetaiotaomicron HTCS transcription factors; identification of ligands that bind to the extracellular domains of HTCS proteins; and investigations of the cellular localization of

B. thetaiotaomicron HTCS proteins. The research will involve both cellular and in vitro studies. In addition to experimental research and contributions to maintaining the laboratory, the Postdoctoral Associate will be expected to prepare manuscripts for publication, present research at local and national meetings, and contribute to grant applications and reporting. The Postdoctoral Associate will collaborate effectively with other members of the laboratory and will have an opportunity to guide undergraduate researchers.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

* Performs experimental research on structural and functional characterization of Hybrid-Two-Component Systems (HTCSs) in Bacteroides.

* Uses molecular biology and molecular genetic techniques to engineer plasmids for expression of HTCS proteins.

* Develops expression systems and purification protocols for production of high-quality HTCS proteins and domain constructs for biochemical and structural analyses.

* Determines structures of HTCS proteins and/or domain constructs using appropriate methods such as X-ray crystallography and cryo

EM.

FLSA Exempt Grade Salary Details A minimum of $63,968 for calendar year appointments Minimum Salary 20,000 Mid Range Salary 90,000 Maximum Salary 200,000 Offer Information
