Postdoctoral Associate
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the department of Neuroscience & Cell Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The Pingyue Pan Lab at the Department of Neuroscience and Cell Biology within Robert Wood Johnson Medical School will perform research on mouse behavior and conduct data analysis. The primary research interest in the lab is to understand dopaminergic signaling and its dysregulation in Parkinson's disease and aging.
The project is to understand the role of a Parkinson's disease gene in aging-associated motor decline.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Design and lead the project as directed by the supervisor.
- Engages in frequent scientific communication with your supervisor/mentor.
- Maintains accurate records of laboratory notebooks and research activity.
- Reviews literature and prepares manuscripts and abstracts.
- Prepares experimental data for conference presentations, publications and grant applications.
- Engage in scientific communication, training of junior personnel including graduate and undergraduate students
- Contribute to the development of performance standards, selection of methodology and instrumentation and coordination of the analytical, biochemical, physiology and instrumentation functions with the research areas to ensure conformance with the goals and objectives of the department.
- As requested, assists in the implementation of the programs and projects in special areas of interest to the department.
- Engage in followship applications and research grant applications.

Minimum Salary - 20,000
Mid Range Salary - 90,000
Maximum Salary - 200,000

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- PhD degree in Neuroscience or related field with a strong publication record, and a minimum of one (1) year experience in at least two of the following
1) animal model and behavior,
2) animal survival and non-survival surgeries
3) confocal/two photon imaging,
4) synaptic biology or physiology. Candidates in ABD (all but degree) status will also be considered.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in animal work, such as animal surgeries and behavioral tests, and strong expertise in data computing and analysis. Demonstrated commitment to research and evidence of productivity.
Preferred Qualifications - A detail-oriented and quantitative mind is greatly desired. Additional expertise in molecular biology and biochemistry is preferred. Prior experience with mouse models, stereotaxic injections, and confocal imaging are highly desirable.
