Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the Nobuta Lab within Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS). The primary purpose for the Postdoctoral Associate is to conduct genomic analytical research on cell-type specific human brain development, and neurological diseases. The project will involve bioinformatic analyses of large datasets with Python and R programming languages. It is expected that research will lead to publications and the Postdoctoral Associate will be expected to prepare manuscripts, fellowship applications, as well as contribute to the preparation of grant applications.
The Postdoctoral Associate will also be expected to guide the research project of undergraduate and graduate researchers and participate in collaborative work with other laboratories. The Postdoctoral Associate will be expected to maintain effective communication and active discussion related to the involved research with the Principal Investigator and laboratory members. This is a grant-funded position contingent on the availability of funds to support it.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Carry out bioinformatic analyses of the large datasets available in our laboratory and in literature.
- Interpret and present the results of bioinformatic analyses in publishable formats.
- Prepare manuscripts, fellowship applications, as well as contribute to the preparation of grant applications.
- Supervise and guide the research projects of an undergraduate and graduate researchers.
- Participate in collaborative work with other laboratories.
- Maintain effective communication and active discussion related to the involved research with the Principal Investigator, collaborating researchers, and laboratory members.

Salary Details - A minimum of $63,968 for calendar year appointments
Minimum Salary - 20,000
Mid Range Salary - 90,000
Maximum Salary - 200,000

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science or a related science is required. Ph.D. Candidates who meet requirements with All But Degree (ABD) will be considered.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Prior experience and productivity in research must be demonstrated. Experience is required with Python and R programming languages. The candidate is expected to be proficient in spoken and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding in biology and neuroscience is preferable. Previous mentoring experience is desirable.

Physical Demands and Work Environment - PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing, sitting, walking, talking, seeing, and hearing. Manual dexterity and vision sufficient for standard laboratory operations. Requires computer data input and analysis. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Laboratory environment. Universal precautions are mandatory. Requires weekend, evening, and holiday hours when necessary.
